Description | Cloudy Bay Te Koko - White Wine
Cloudy Bay Te Koko - White Wine is a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that follows a distinct and sophisticated approach within the New Zealand style. Produced by Cloudy Bay, it originates from a selection of up to six vineyards located in the sub-regions of Rapaura, Brancott, and Renwick, in gravelly and sandy-loam soils. The winemaking process breaks with more conventional methods: the must is transferred directly to used French oak barrels, where it ferments slowly with indigenous yeasts, gaining depth and complexity.
In the glass, it presents a straw color with pale green hues. The aroma is expressive, with notes of white peach, preserved citrus, and a subtle tropical touch. On the palate, it reveals itself as vibrant and concentrated, balancing ripe stone fruit with citrus intensity, in a texture marked by barrel aging and a very characteristic acidity. The finish is long, persistent, and full of freshness.
After fermentation, the wine remains for 4 to 5 months to gain complexity and then rests for another 15 months on fine lees in barrels, contributing to its textured and elegant profile. It should be served between 10 and 12 ºC. It pairs very well with seafood, fish, white meats, as well as Japanese and Asian cuisine.
