Description | Esporão Aragonez - Red Wine
Esporão Aragonez - Red Wine is a single-varietal wine from Herdade do Esporão, in the Alentejo region, produced exclusively from the Aragonez grape variety. This grape variety plays an important role in the history of the estate and comes from one of the first vines planted at Herdade do Esporão, in 1980, in the Canto do Zé Cruz vineyard. The result is a wine that distinctly expresses the character of Aragonez and the Alentejo identity, with aromatic elegance and a profile marked by balance.
The grapes begin fermentation in marble lagares (traditional stone troughs), with foot treading, followed by malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete vats. The wine ages for one year in new French oak barrels and then remains in the bottle for at least two years. The aroma features notes of spices, forest floor, and truffle, accompanied by hints of blackcurrant. On the palate, it reveals freshness, tannins characteristic of the grape variety, and a long, elegant finish, confirming the depth and precision of this Alentejo red wine.
