Description | Antinori Matarocchio - Red Wine
Antinori Matarocchio - Red Wine is a great Tuscan wine produced by Marchesi Antinori, born from the ambition to express at the highest level a single grape variety and a single vineyard plot on the Guado al Tasso estate. Made exclusively with Cabernet Franc, it reveals a very precise identity, marked by elegance, depth and aromatic purity.
The grapes are harvested manually and subjected to rigorous berry-by-berry selection, followed by gentle crushing and a period of pre-fermentation cold maceration. The wine is then transferred to new French oak barrels, where it completes malolactic fermentation and ages for 18 months. After this period, the best barrels are selected and blended to create Matarocchio, which continues to evolve in the bottle for more than a year before reaching the market.
In the glass, it presents itself as clean and bright, with a red color and slightly ruby and garnet reflections of medium-high intensity. The nose is intense and complex, with notes of juniper, bay leaves, Morello cherries, and licorice. On the palate, despite the vintage profile, it is restrained and not excessive, standing out for its great elegance, clean and pure texture, and exceptionally smooth and silky tannins. The finish is long and very persistent.
It is recommended to decant and let it breathe for at least an hour, serving between 18°C and 20°C. It is an excellent choice for special occasions, ideal with red meats and game dishes, but with enough body to be enjoyed on its own.
