A Villeira Mencía - Red Wine

A Villeira Mencía - Red Wine is a red wine from Virgen del Galir, produced in the Valdeorras region from the Mencía grape variety. The name A Villeira refers to the 2-hectare plot from which the grapes for this wine come. The vineyard is located in As Ermitas, an amphitheater-shaped property with 19th-century stone terraces and centuries-old vines. Due to the terrain's orography, all work is done manually or with the help of animals, following sustainable viticulture practices.

In the winery, the grapes ferment in small oak vats, and the wine ages for 12 months in the same barrels. The result is a red wine with a fresh and aromatic profile, true to the Valdeorras style. It has a clean and bright cherry-red color. On the nose, it reveals great intensity, with floral and mineral notes. On the palate, it is fresh, with good acidity, an enveloping texture, and a persistent finish.

It is recommended to serve it between 14 and 16 ºC. It pairs particularly well with lamb, rabbit stew, red meat, poultry and cheeses.
